HOMONYMS

Armour

Editor-in-Chief

May 2022

Armour, established in 2012, is a dynamic student-run publication at Washington University in St. Louis, serving as a vibrant platform for creative and cultural leaders within and beyond the WashU community. Alongside its robust online presence, Armour produces a biannual print magazine centered around a bi-annual theme, and hosts a variety of community events and collaborations, showcasing WashU's creative talent.

As Editor-in-Chief of Issue 29, I conceptualized the theme “Homonyms” with an aim to transcend the surface-level interpretation of words by pushing creative directors to delve deeper to identify semantic connections between the various meanings of these words.

During the production of "Homonyms," we assembled 30 editorial teams, each dedicated to dissecting a different homonym, delving into the dual definitions through contextual and conceptual exploration in search of a point of semantic intersection.

10 editorial shoots were selected for print, ensuring that each was designed in a way to visually communicate its story and conceptual depth. In collaboration with the layout team, we created a 148-page magazine, printing 500 copies and distributing them to staff members, Armour alumni, and the WashU community.
